The beauty of this method is that if the results are interesting enough, you might end up getting a link back from a huge news site.

Reading some of the comments I see it also highlights some of the misunderstandings some people (including some SEOs) have of Google PageRank. Toolbar PageRank is not the same thing as PageRank.
